Privacy
What we collect, why, and how to have it removed.
Short version: we collect only what we need to send you the daily content, we never sell it, and you can leave any time.
The iPhone app
The Desert Road iPhone app collects no personal information. There are no accounts, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking in the app.
Your settings stay on your phone. The Tracker stores the days you mark, your commitments and your check-in answers only on your phone, and we never receive them. The daily reminder is a local notification scheduled by your phone. We do not send it, and nothing about it is sent to us. If you delete the app, everything it stored is deleted.
The Rosary, the readings and the leader notes are stored inside the app and work offline.
The Day 1 video loads from the internet only when you tap play. It comes from Microsoft Azure, and its captions come from desertroadcatholic.com, which is hosted by Netlify. Like any web server, they can see your phone's IP address and basic request details when you tap play. We do not use them to identify you.
Links in the app, such as Privacy policy and Support, open in your browser. The rest of this page applies to the website.
What we collect
- When you register: your first name, your email address and whether you lead a fraternity.
- When you mark a day as walked on a day page: the days you mark stay in your browser. We don't receive them.
- The Day 90 certificate and the guided Rosary: the name and dates you enter for the certificate, and where you stopped in the Rosary along with any prayer intention you type, stay in your browser. We don't receive them.
- The readiness check: your answers stay in your browser. We don't receive them.
How we use it
- To send your welcome email and occasional updates about the journey.
- To give you access to the members-only videos and tools.
- To send you an invitation to the private Discord community, if you ask for one.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how the site is used: which pages men read, how far they scroll and where they get stuck. Clarity is set to mask all text, so it never sees what you type or what your tracker shows. These tools use cookies and see general information like your browser and rough location. We never send them your name or email.
If you'd rather not be counted, a browser privacy setting or content blocker will stop them, and the site works the same either way.
Who handles it
Our email list is managed by MailerLite. The site is hosted by Netlify. Microsoft Azure hosts our videos. Google and Microsoft provide the analytics above. These services process information only to provide their service to us.
Discord: an invitation is sent only if you ask for one. Once you join, Discord's own privacy policy applies.
Buy Me a Coffee: donations are handled by Buy Me a Coffee, and we don't receive your card details.
