A desert road before dawn, with a pillar of golden light on the horizon.

Doing Exodus 90 without the app

Prayer, fasting and brotherhood don't need a subscription. Here's how to walk the ninety days for free.

The short answer

Yes, you can. The heart of the 90 days is daily prayer, fasting from comforts and a weekly brotherhood, and none of it needs the official app. You need three things: a daily reading plan, a set of commitments your group agrees on, and a few men to walk with. Desert Road Catholic gives you all three for free.

Desert Road Catholic is not the official Exodus 90 app. It is a free, independent companion that works on the web today, with its own iPhone and Android apps coming soon.

What you actually need

  • A daily reading plan. One passage of Exodus a day for ninety days. The full reading plan is here, with every date for 2027.
  • Your commitments. Daily prayer, fasting from comforts like alcohol, sweets and entertainment screens, and giving to others. The disciplines page explains each one and the range of ways men live it.
  • A few brothers. Three to eight men meeting weekly, with one brother you check in with between meetings. The leader page has a free meeting guide.
  • Prayers to lean on. The Armory has the prayers for each stage, the Rosary by day and the daily examen.

What the official app costs

Exodus 90 is run by an apostolate that does good work, and many men are grateful for its app. As of October 26, 2026, its official pricing page lists:

  • A Challenge Pass (Fall 2026) at $19 once, or two payments of $9.50: a one-time pass for October through December, not a subscription.
  • Exodus+ at $90 a year, or four payments of $22.50.
  • A student rate for Exodus+ of $19 a year.
  • Exodus U at $180 a year, or four payments of $45, with everything in Exodus+ plus community-based courses.
  • A 14-day free trial with no credit card required, listed for the Challenge Pass and Exodus+.

The same page says that if you cannot afford the cost of a subscription, Exodus 90 will cover it; it asks you to write to support@exodus90.com. Prices change, so check the pricing page for the latest.

Why we made a free companion

Some parishes have run the ninety days for years from a printed packet and a weekly meeting. Desert Road Catholic grew out of that: a free daily video for registered men (Day 1 is open to everyone), the reading in the Douay-Rheims, and simple tools for a fraternity, with no trial and no subscription. If the official app serves your group well, use it. If cost or screens are getting in the way, this is here for you. See the ways to follow along.

Getting started this week

  1. Take the two-minute readiness check.
  2. Ask two or three men to walk it with you.
  3. Agree on your commitments using the disciplines page.
  4. Register free so everyone unlocks each day's video on the same day, starting January 11, 2027.
